Enjoy this vintage clip of country music icon Patsy Cline performing “I Fall To Pieces” live on television shortly before her death.
The Patsy Cline I Fall To Pieces song was released in 1961. The song reached #1 on the Billboard country single chart starting August 7, 1961. Country music legend Patsy Cline may have lived a short life, but her influence is still very much felt within the music industry. She had a bold, unique voice that changed the way country music was perceived in pop culture. Cline successfully made the crossover to pop music and was one of the first of her time to do so.
“I Fall To Pieces” was Cline’s first number-one hit on the Country charts, and her second song to cross over onto the pop charts. The track was released in 1961 and was originally presented by songwriters Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard to Brenda Lee. Lee turned down the song, citing that it was too country sounding for her pop style.
Cline eventually found her way to the song— and the rest is history.
